Welcome to the weekend, Philly! These three days offer up the perfect combo of debuts, festivals and seasonal fun.
The highly anticipated Cherry Street Pier opens to the public this Friday as a park, market, workspace and food-and-drink spot on the Delaware River waterfront. Complementing the opening is the two-day Festival for the People contemporary-arts celebration on both Saturday and Sunday.
Two major exhibitions also open this weekend at Philly institutions. Visitors can get up close with the machine-invention drawings of Rube Goldberg at the National Museum of American Jewish History, and dive deep into everyone’s favorite ancient Scandinavian society at The Franklin Institute’s Vikings exhibit, complete with an opening-weekend festival.
DesignPhiladelphia and Philadelphia Open Studio Tours both wrap up their annual arts events this weekend, while seasonal festivals at Bartram’s Garden and Peddler’s Village keep the brews and bites flowing. Plus, The Piazza hosts the giant Pickledelphia Pickle Festival for those who “relish” a good food fest.
