The fall festival season in Philadelphia doesn’t show any sign of slowing down this week with arts festivals, food festivals and neighborhood celebrations galore.
Some of the biggest annual fests of the year return to the city this weekend. Enjoy delicious eats and live entertainment at the blockbuster Midtown Village Fall Festival, celebrate the delightful shops and eateries of the Historic District at Old City Fest, stroll the Italian Market during the last Night Market Philadelphia of the season and mark the world’s largest Coming Out Day festivities (!) during Outfest.
It’s also the last week for the much-buzzed-about Fireflies interactive installation on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Take a ride on a fancifully lit pedicab before the installation wraps up on Sunday, and remember that walk-ups are welcome!
Elsewhere, there are massive Oktoberfests (23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest), enormous art-centric events (Monument Lab, DesignPhiladelphia), new exhibitions (Chuck Close Photographs, Gardens of the Mind), a reenactment of a key Revolutionary War battle (Revolutionary Germantown Festival) and 5,000 illuminated pumpkins in West Fairmount Park (The Glow: A Jack O’Lantern Experience).
